UD Home Visiting Program - NDEHS Summer Events

Our four-part Sprouts series has been a wonderful opportunity for families to learn, connect, and participate in hands-on experiences focused on nutrition, healthy choices, and family engagement. The series began with planting and providing families with information about growing and caring for fresh foods. Families then participated in a guided cooking session where they learned new ways to prepare healthy meals together.

The third Sprouts session was led by our nutritionist, Irene, during the visit to the local farmer’s market. Families used vouchers and SNAP benefits to purchase fresh produce while receiving nutrition education on making healthy choices and incorporating fresh foods into their daily routines. Families also participated in a parent-child activity that encouraged learning, bonding, and positive interactions.

The final Sprouts session took place at the farm at the food bank, where families enjoyed a meaningful experience connecting with their community, learning more about food sources, and continuing to build healthy habits. Families shared positive feedback and appreciated the opportunity to learn practical skills that support their children’s health and development.

Our Infant Massage series is currently in progress, with families completing week three. Crystal is guiding and teaching parents about the benefits of infant massage and how nurturing touch can strengthen the bond between infants and their caregivers. The sessions support positive parent-child interactions, relaxation, communication, and healthy attachment. Families who complete the series will receive a certificate of attendance recognizing their participation and commitment.

Summer has been filled with meaningful opportunities for families to learn, engage, and build connections through hands-on activities, community partnerships, and family-centered experiences. These activities have supported parent involvement, strengthened relationships, and provided families with valuable resources to promote their children’s growth and development
